Sodium Orthovanadate

Sodium Orthovanadate is a Vanadate and a Broad spectrum competitive inhibitor for protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs), Acid phosphatases (APs), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and ATPase. Sodium Orthovanadate inhibition activity is reversible and completely reversed by the addition of EDTA or by dilution. Sodium Orthovanadate is commonly used for preservation of the protein tyrosyl phosphorylation state in cells, cell lysates, as well as protein tyrosine kinase assays. It also blocks IP3 binding and inhibits inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3)-induced Ca2+ release from endocrine cells.
